Hello! I’m Janice pronounced Jah-neese but I welcome all pronunciations such Jan-is, Yah – nice, J-nice, etc. I was born in the Philippines and settled in Northern California at the age of 5. I grew up in the heart of Silicon Valley where well known tech companies were founded such as Google, Intel, HP, Meta, Nvidia to name a few.
During the day, I am a Recruiter for an enterprise software company. I find, screen, and interview applicants to fill open positions. I’m a career matchmaker and I love what I do. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, road trips, day trips, wine tasting, beer tasting, eating out at restaurants, and working out.
To help me unwind from work, I like to get my creative juices flowing in the kitchen by creating easy meals inspired by my childhood, travels, and restaurants. Growing up, I watched cooking shows such as Martin Yan’s Yan Can Cook, Julia Child, and Jacque Pepin. I was completely glued to the television by the way they took ingredients to make something edible and I thought it was the most incredible thing to do. Influences from my dad, mom, brother, and cousins also piqued my interest in cooking at an early age. I made my first Filipino adobo at the age of 9 and have been cooking since.
Creating something from scratch has always been the way I express myself among my friends and family. There’s nothing like a home-cooked meal to bring everyone together and catch up with our busy lives. It’s the memories of food that I cherish the most from the kitchen and on the road.
